Endometriosis Pain Relief Alternatives

You may experience debilitating pain from endometriosis. It can make you feel alone, not to mention the disruption to everyday life. Stop suffering and start living using these non-traditional therapies.

Endometriosis is a disease where the endometrial tissue that lines the uterus grows outside of it. This often occurs in the pelvic area. It affects one in ten women, so you are not alone. Taking a holistic approach to treatment options is key to success.

1. Symptoms of Endometriosis

Endometriosis develops between the uterus and rectum. Pelvic pain, bowel movements (especially before a period), and pressure in the rectal area are signs of endometriosis. Discomfort can worsen during ovulation, menstruation, and premenstrual phases of the menstrual cycle. Irregular menstrual cycles with difficulties getting pregnant could also be early warning signs.

Mental distress, such as mood swings, anxiety, or depression, may occur on a regular basis. This leads to the use of excessive energy to cope with emotional instability. In some cases, there are no signs. Regardless, your gynecologist may diagnose it during routine screens and scans.

2. Managing Endometriosis

There is no one-size-fits-all to manage endometriosis. Every woman is unique in diagnosis, severity, location, and underlying causes. You will need to find remedies that not only ease symptoms but empower you to have control of your life. Diet changes

Excess estrogen from foods can cause pain from Endometriosis. Avoid foods that stimulate estrogens such as wheat, low-fat dairy products, and rising fiber, and reduce your fat intake.

Make these adjustments one at a time from your diet. Then after a month, see how your body responds when you eat them again. This will help inform what diet changes work for you in particular.

∎ Natural progesterone

Progesterone creams reduce the effects of estrogen on endometrial tissue. It also has the bonus of having no negative side effects. Apply a two-ounce bottle to sensitive skin areas such as the face, neck, and abdomen. Use it every month from the tenth to the twenty-eighth day, alternating the areas you apply it daily. Injecting natural progesterone capsules into the vaginal or rectum canal is an option. Taken twice a day in doses of 200 to 400 mg.

∎ Shiatsu, chiropractic, and osteopathy

Shiatsu, chiropractic medicine, and osteopathy are all types of "manual" medicine. These deep massage methods are effective in treating pain in the body. Consider having a massage once a week for two months on alternating weeks.

∎ Acupuncture

Tailored acupuncture treatment is an efficient pain reliever. It corrects underlying energetic imbalances in the body. Acupuncture coupled with Chinese herbs can increase relief from symptoms.

∎ Supplements, herbs, and essential oils

Castor oil is a hormone that balances estrogen levels during menstruation. It improves liver function, helping the body detox excess estrogen. Apply a castor oil pack to the lower region of your abdomen for one hour three days a week or more.

Other supplements that help to alleviate pain are multivitamins such as:

  • B1, B6, and B12 (non-yeast form) have an anti-inflammatory effect when taken together.

  • Magnesium aids in muscle relaxation. 400-800 mg (equal to 90-150 mg elemental magnesium).

  • Vitamins A and E have antioxidants. E inhibits the production of prostaglandins, involved in the inflammatory process.

  • Vitamin C with bioflavonoids and enzymes that digest proteins: Beneficial for reducing inflammation.

  • D, L-Phenylalanine, or DLPA, is an amino acid that reduces chronic pain. Taken on a daily basis over time. Some people note a difference right away, while others take several weeks.

  • Essential fatty acids: Such as fish oils (omega 3), and evening primrose (omega 6) taken 2000mg per day.

  • Zinc citrate, also known as chelated zinc

  • Selenium (non-yeast form)

  • Probiotics taken daily may help regulate your hormones

While you may have accepted endometriosis pain as an inevitable part of your life, these alternative treatments may help you regain control so you can get back to living a more fulfilling life.
