Hacks To Get More Out of Your Tech

If you know how to think creatively, you can get even more from the technology you have. There are little things that can help you get more done in your day-to-day life.

Technology is amazing. Today, you can visit all corners of the world through our computers. Talk face-to-face to people regardless of where they are. Turn ideas into business opportunities or personal benefits. And so much more.

This is true even if technology has never been part of your life before and you have no idea how it works. You can get more out of your tech gadgets. Such as computers, smartphones, smart home devices, etc. Hacks aren't just for programmers. Anyone can use them to get more done.

1. Sort Emails

How many times have you signed up for a newsletter or promotions on a website? Afterward, you receive promotions from that company and numerous others. Soon, your inbox is flooded, making it challenging to find the emails you need. G-mail, Yahoo, AOL, and other email services have tools to assist you with this problem:

You'll want to create folders inside your email account to organize by the sender. Put newsletters and promotions you are receiving from the companies in one folder. Some email services like Outlook have tools that automatically assign emails to a folder. You can easily create other organization folders. You may have one by category, such as bills, banking, personal, etc. This will allow you easily find your emails by categories.

2. Back-Up Data

Data like videos and photos take up a lot of storage space on the computer. This can slow it down and make working on your PC a drag. Use online backup services, like Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud, and OneDrive to store files. You do not have to buy any equipment to back up your files. All you need is an internet connection. Once installed you can set it up to run in the background, regularly saving all your files to the cloud. You can also share the files with others that way without having to send large files via email.

3. Manage Passwords

Passwords are spiraling out of control. It seems almost every site you visit wants you to sign up for more content. Others require signing up as a must to get things done securely. These include online banking, paying bills, social media, and more.

There are a few ways to manage passwords. Most browsers like Chrome will ask if you want to autosave your passwords for subsequent use. Be sure to do this only on devices that only you have access to. You don't want to save it on a device used by others. Particularly not at public places like a library or at a FedEx office.

The second option is to use tools. There are many available on the market. Be sure to do your research to make sure it is a viable product. Thirdly, some services over biometric authentication. such as fingerprints, selfies, and voice recognition. This is a fairly new approach and often lacks a seamless, intuitive user experience.

4. Security & Protection

You want to make sure your device is hack-proof. Computer viruses can cause your pc to malfunction. They can also be a way for hackers to obtain personal information without you knowing. Attacks on unwitting users, while they browse the internet, are common. The best defense is to use virus protection software. There are many free antivirus software available. Check with your internet service provider for free antivirus protection.

5. Chargers & Cables

Electronic devices power life. Phones, computers, tablets, and many other devices, means more cables and chargers. These create clutters that make it hard to figure out which cable goes with which device.

Using the wrong cable on a device can actually damage the device. Label chargers with the device they are for. You want to organize your chargers in a way that you can easily find them and use them for the right device. For devices, you don't use often, wrap up cords and put them away in a drawer.

Set up a charging station. You can buy a charging station for multiple devices. Delegate a palace for it like your kitchen, home office, or bedroom. Having a designated area helps keep it out of areas that would otherwise be cluttered with them.

Finally, use a surge protector while powered to an electric outlet. This will protect your device from shutting off and losing data in the event of an electrical surge. You can also switch off the surge protector to avoid unplugging unused devices each time.
