1. Gather Your Pictures
You may have pictures all over your home. Locate all your pictures that are in boxes, drawers, and wherever else you stash them. Print out photos in digital format on your computer, phone, or digital camera. You can order prints online or have them printed at a store.
2. Sort The Pictures
Once you have all the pictures together and printed you need to begin to sort them. This can take a lot of time and you do not have to do this in one sitting. It could take up to a few weeks, depending on the size of your picture pile. So take a deep breath and dive in.
Some people take weeks to look through their pictures. It should be enjoyable and remember breaks that it is ok to take breaks. Seeing all your memories in one place can bring up mixed emotions. Take a look at all the great things that you did and the time you spend with the people you love.
There are different options when it comes to sorting your pictures. Keep them together by date or by theme. You can also arrange them into categories such as summer vacations, sports, holidays, parties, and anything else you may have done. You can have as many categories as you want and as you need for the pictures you are sorting.
3. Putting It Together
Once you have everything sorted, determine the type of book you are going to make. Think about the overall theme and what pictures you have a lot. Depending on the categories you may want to make a scrapbook based on a specific theme. For instance a scrapbook for your child with all pictures before the age of five. If you travel often you should make a scrapbook with pictures from your trip. When you have found a theme and have all your pictures together you can begin scrapbooking.
4. Page By Page
It is important to only focus on one page at a time. This will allow the scrapbook to look great and to keep you from getting overwhelmed. Coordinate your pictures on the page and match stickers and other items that go along with the theme. Write memories on each page so you will be able to remember what you were doing and why the picture means so much to you.
Before you know it you will have a great-looking scrapbook that is full of memories.
