Finding Love Over the Holidays

There are many different ways that you can volunteer, from helping out at a soup kitchen or donating your time at an animal shelter, to even just talking with seniors about their lives and what they need. Or doing random acts of kindness.

Volunteer at the local soup kitchen and serve up some food for the people who have no one else. Taking care of those in need, will make your problems seem less depressing. You will find love on the holidays if you help out your fellow man.

Attend a Party

The most common way to celebrate is by attending a holiday party. These parties are usually hosted by friends, family, or work colleagues and are usually held during the festive season. The party can be held at someone's home, in a local bar or club, or even at work. Attend your company's party. Your new guy might be the new guy from down in accounting. Enjoy the season for what it is.

Plan a Party

Make your own holiday party. Inviting your guests to bring a friend is a good idea. Who knows, maybe one of your married friends has someone they'd like you to meet. Plan your party early enough in the season so that your guests have time to make plans to attend. Everyone is busy this time of year, and you want your party to be a success.

Plan to make your own food or have it catered. Decorate your home for the holiday season. Buy a tree and decorations. Holiday lights are bright and colorful and get you in the festive spirit of the holiday. When your guests arrive, play festive music to get your party in the spirit. Even if you are not a great cook, you should be able to prepare appetizers and finger foods for twenty people. The more you practice, the better you will become. Alternatively, ask each of your guests to bring a dish to pass.

Go Alfresco

Take a walk outside and look at all the lights that others have made. The area is well-lit. If you live somewhere that gets snow, go outside on a snowy night. Feel the air and take in all of the season's smells and sounds. Take your skates to your local ice rink and go ice skating. Your ideal man could be out on the ice.

Perhaps there will be a group of carolers nearby, and you can join them in singing your favorite carols to lift your spirits. Warm up by stopping at a coffee shop and ordering a cup of hot cocoa with marshmallows or whipped cream on top. You never know where you might meet someone, but the only way to find out is to put yourself out there.

Call Someone

You could be sitting at home, waiting for the phone to ring. Or you could call people and talk to them. There are so many loved ones you haven't spoken to in a long time! So, instead of just sitting there, call them all and have a conversation. You just never know. They might know someone who knows someone who knows someone who is perfect for you! The next thing you know, you're sitting across the table from your soulmate. The point is to maintain contact with others because you never know what awaits you beneath the mistletoe.
